
Canada was hosting the largest gathering on Women Deliver Ministerial Forum and Women Deliver Global Conference, a four-day summit described as "the world's largest conference on gender equality and the health, rights, and well-being of girls and women."
Women Deliver 2019 was one the world’s largest conference and gathered over 9,000 world leaders, influencers, academics, advocates, and change makers with the goal to advance progress for girls and women from 160 countries.
At these events, His Excellency Ferozuddin Feroz, Minister of Public Health, and Mohammad Salem Wahdat, Consul General, represented Afghanistan.
The Ministerial Forum explored two issues that are aligned with the 2019 Conference theme of Power: supporting the rights and needs of adolescent girls across a number of sectors (e.g. nutrition, sexual and reproductive health and rights, education, etc.); and, empowering youth to participate in policy development and decision-making.
Ministerial Forum Participants, discussed the following specific themes in relation to unlocking the power of adolescent girls. Ministers worked to identify their top 2 preferences for roundtable discussions, based on the following options:
- Sexual and Reproductive Health and Rights (SRHR)
- Food Systems and Nutrition
- Education
- Sexual and Gender Based Violence (SGBV)
- Economic Empowerment
Beside the Conference and the Forum, His Excellency Dr. Feroz accompanied by Mr. Wahdat had some meetings with other world leader counterpart.
