
Asila Wardak was re-elected as a human rights commissioner for the Organization of Islamic Cooperation from 2021 to 2024.Asila Wardak has worked as Permanent Mission of Afghanistan to United Nation in New York, Director general of Human rights and International Women’s affairs of Ministry of foreign affairs in Afghanistan, development specialist for the world bank and with valuable experiences of working with different organizations such as Asian Development Bank, UNDP, CARE, UNAMA, and Canada Fund.Asila Wardak as the first woman of Afghanistan, received the most votes among the candidates from Asia, Africa, and the Middle East during the 13th meeting of OIC in Istanbul in 2016. Asila Wardak was elected again as a member of the OIC’s Independent Permanent Human Rights Commission (IPHRC). Mrs. Wardak received the most votes among candidates of Asian Groups of Afghanistan, Turkey, and Iran.
